Celebrity Magpie Endorsements

The growing fame and proven quality of the Magpie crossword magazine means that it was only a matter of time before major celebrities would be beating a path to its door.

Carol Vorderman (MBE), who recently celebrated 25 years of doing the numbers game on Countdown, was horrified to discover that rival Susie Dent got a prize pen before her. She wasted no time in beating a path to the Magpie’s door, and we were happy to oblige for a modest fee.

Here’s Carol showing off her new pen, and having a crack at the Brimstone puzzle in issue 60. She can’t wait for the magazine to go electronic.

Not wishing to miss out on the action, legendary poet and wit Pam Ayres (also MBE) insisted on getting in on the action. Here she is, obviously delighted with her new pen.

Manipulation of digital photos is indeed a scary thing.

It must have taken incredible effort to get Mark Goodliffe to put on a dress, a pair of falsies, pose with a Magpie pen, and then to superimpose a photo of Ms. Vorderman’s head over the resulting snap.

    Was it worth it? Really?

    :-)

I hope Carol was given the errata for the Brimstone puzzle!!
